Asia-Pacific, Indonesia; Kick-start for geothermal. David Hayes. Petroleum Review November 2008, P42

Indonesia is to use World Bank loan and grant facilities totalling $70mn to restart its geothermal power programme as a base load generation substitute for coal-fired electricity in areas of Java and Sumatra, reports David Hayes. The government is placing greater emphasis on the development of renewable energy resources and increasing energy saving measures in a bid to tackle the impact of high oil prices.
