Statoil ASA has installed and commissioned about 8,000 km of subsea pipelines in the North Sea area since 1985, including several of the world’s largest offshore gas trunklines. Commissioning and pigging these pipelines presented several challenges.including commissioning concepts for single- and multidiameter pipelines, air drying of internally coated, export-gas-quality pipelines and dewatering of pipelines with hydrocarbon gas.
