Manouchehr Takin. Sustainable supply from Saudi Arabia, Iraq: Oil reserves or politics? Oil and Gas Journal. 12th April 2004, 102(14) p.

The availability of future oil supplies from Saudi Arabia and Iraq is a major concern globally and particularly for the main oil-consuming regions of the world. In some years in the past, these two countries have contributed more than 17% and 5%, respectively, to total world oil production. They currently contribute less than 13% and 2% to world oil production, respectively, while they hold 20.7% and 9.1% of the world's remaining oil reserves. Thus these two countries will play more-significant roles in supplying the world's oil needs in the future.
