A cliché of the energy business has been that 'oil markets are global, while gas markets are continental.' In a world where only a handful of pipeline gas crosses from one continent to another and the LNG market is significantly smaller than the pipeline market, there has been good reason to be skeptical about the global integration of gas markets.
