Details are given of a relatively inexpensive asset-management software package that has produced immediate benefits for the Sunoco refinery in Sarnia, Ontario. The package has sped up the diagnosis of production problems, reduced maintenance costs, prevented process upsets, and eliminated the need for maintenance personnel to enter hazardous areas. Product application, economics, and future plans are discussed.
