New LDC begins operations in northwestern North Carolina. M.P. Ancoin. Pipeline Gas J., April 1999, 226(4), 40--42.

A natural gas distribution system in North Carolina is described. The project involves 150 miles of 6 and 10 in. transmission lines and more than 300 miles of 2, 4 and 6 in. plastic distribution lines for a local distribution company (LDC). The latest technological developments are incorporated in the construction. Environmental issues require comprehensive and effective erosion controls to keep silt and other debris out of streams and creeks crossed by the pipelines. The project will cost $55 million and supply natural gas to 35 000 customers.
