Anaerobic biodegradability of oil-based fluid for invertemulsion drilling fluids. Anon. JPT., November 1998, 50(11) 56, 57. (Synopsis SPE paper 39386).

The test procedure described is based on the test method of the European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC) and determines the biogradability of products under aqueous anaerobic conditions in batch fermentation. Biogas production resulting from degradation of chemical substrates in anaerobic conditions is quantified by measuring the pressure increase. Gas-phase analysis and ester analysis are reported and the results of the procedure are presented and discussed. 1 ref.
