New cuttings treatment taking on recovery, environment challenges. W. Furlow. Offshore, July 1998, 58(7), 84, 124.

Details are given of a further refining of the process which recovers mineral oil from contaminated drill cuttings, to recover large volumes of synthetic oils that are clean enough to re-use. Named the Indirect Thermal Desorption Series 6000 System (ITD 6000), some 75--200 tons per day of material can be processed, with a saturation limit of 30% hydrocarbons. Mention is made of other companies and processes involved in the treatment of cuttings, as well as economic considerations and transportation issues.
