Use of reliability technology in the process industry. O. Michelsen. Reliability Engng. System Safety, May 1998, 60(2), 179--181.

An attempt is made to describe the status of the use of reliability technology in the process industry today, and also to give some advice on how to proceed in the future. The description given refers to the oil and gas industry. Reliability analysis is acknowledged as a useful tool for risk analysis and design of safety systems. Attention is drawn to the need for more emphasis on solving the problems as experienced by the industry.
