The need is stressed for a good knowledge of the effects of imperfections when planning the fabrication of built-up structures in order to minimize fabrication costs and corrective measures. Hence, it is desirable to predict these global, residual stress and deformations beforehand. Consideration is given to the different approaches used for this purpose.
