Recent National Pollutant Discharge Elimation System (Npdes) permits have become significantly more stringent and complex, requiring more diligence from operators to ensure compliance. Tabulated data showing discharges to territorial seas, and discharges to the continental shelf are presented and discussed. The Clean Water Act, Npdes permits, and their limits, and the emphasis on toxics are considered.
