Consideration is given to the latest technology with respect to welding procedure development, consumable selection and construction practices such as bending, quality assurance/inspection requirements, trenching and pre-heating methods. All of which have an effect on installation cost and productivity. This is illustrated with reference to two recent X80 pipeline projects. 8 refs.
