Mid-America pipeline builds respect on 400-mile loop. Anon. Pipeline Gas J., August 1996, 223(8), 56--60.

Construction of a 400-mile loop running parallel to two existing lines from New Mexico to Texas is described. The new 12 in. loop line carries natural gas liquids and increases the total line capacity from 135,000 to 185,000 brl/day. Measures taken to comply with strict legislative and environmental requirements are described. The pipe is X-65 grade steel with a 0.225 in. wall thickness although this is increased for road, rail, and river crossings. The line is coated with fusion bonded epoxy. Construction of a 14-mile 10 in. diameter lateral line is also discussed. This receives deliveries from a new gas processing plant.
