Details are given of hot rolling and pipe manufacturing trials using 8--12 mm thick strip spiral-welded into 610 mm diameter pipe. The results, which are presented and discussed, show how the steel composition, processing parameters and microstructure affect the mechanical properties of the finished pipe. The various conclusions which have been drawn as a result of these trials are reported. 6 refs.
