The main aim of this study was to compare the degree of DNA binding from oils of differing viscosity, under conditions in which grooming was prevented, with that seen when grooming was allowed---the relevance being that where grooming is prevented is more likely to represent human exposure. Tritium-labelled benzo[a]pyrene ([3H]BaP) was added to oils of a wide range of viscosity (from 13.5 to ca. 8000 cSt at 40 degrees C) and these were added to mouse skin under conditions where grooming was either allowed or prevented.
