E/Cs---re-engineering for survival. J.G. Munisteri. Hydrocarbon Processing, October 1994, 73(10), 123--134 (7 pages).

The need for engineering and construction (E/C) companies to adapt to industry changes is described as an essential requirement for survival. Current trends in the E/C market are reviewed and actions taken by seven major companies to meet changing scenarios are discussed. Effects on smaller companies are also considered and their ability to adapt to change is described. E/C companies are recommended to consider 15 separate strategies to ensure that processing operations can be adjusted to meet changing industrial needs. Companies are divided into four size categories and frequent re-engineering is described as essential for future survival.
