Modelling off-centre wells in reservoir simulation. H.-J. Su. SPE Reservoir Engng., February 1995, 10(1), 47-51.

A new method is proposed for modelling one or more off-centre wells in a cell. It has been validated by comparison with an exact solution and the results of several fine-grid-model tests. The method allows fluid production from appropriate neighbouring grid blocks to represent flow patterns around the off-centre well properly. It can be implemented easily into existing reservoirs and can improve the accuracy of coarse-grid-model simulation. For off-centre wells, the wellblock pressure calculated with the new method can be interpreted at the cell centre. 7 refs.
