Pipeline report---regulatory, technical pressures prompt more US salt-cavern gas storage. T.F. Barron. OGJ, 12 September 1994, 92(37), 55--67 (9 pages).

The expansion is outlined of salt-cavern facilities over the years since the first US salt cavern was placed into natural gas service in 1961. Different cavern constructions are described, including cavern depth, shape, size, and spacing. Operating pressures are examined and typical cavern equipment is illustrated and discussed. Graphical illustrations are presented which show Hattiesburg gas storage covering December 1991--March 1993 together with inventory balances, as well as customer usage.
