Recent developments for increasing the efficiency of construction and maintenance operations are described. They are used in pipelines for liquid products, gas transmission, andgas distribution. The innovative techniques described are a clamp-on ultrasonic liquid-line leak detector, versatile software for a SCADA system, a remote gas distribution system pressure monitor/recorder, a new dry gas-barrier rotor shaft seal design, a compact radar liquid tank-level measurement device, as a new joint-sealing material and technique for accessible pipes. Each of these innovative developments is described and illustrated.
