The well-management scheme described is formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem with multiple constraints. An efficient simplex/separable algorithm allows the scheme to be implemented in a reservoir simulator and successfully applied to practical reservoir simulation. It has been validated against two other production optimizing schemes and gave reasonable results of higher oil production. It can also be applied to evaluate the impact of facility capacities on production rates. 24 refs.
