New technologies in reservoir characterization. B. Blackwelder, L. Canales and J. Dubose. JPT, January 1996, 48(1), 26, 27.

The use is discussed of voxel technology for accurately depicting reservoirs. New technological advances in acquisition are helping to improve the resolution of the reservoir's geometry. These advances are the result of improvements in data storage capacity, data transfer rates, computer speed, and data visualization (voxel technology). Image enhancement, reservoir visualization and characterization rendering seismic data in rock terms, and planning the effective well path are outlined.
