The basics of loss control, management and prevention are outlined and a simple risk management system is described for the maximization of profit through the minimization of loss. Consideration is given to the fundamentals of loss control management and the primary human factors are pinpointed which impact on the safeguarding of offshore installations, with reference to both hardware operation and safety management.
