A study is outlined, which was initiated by the Marine Technology Directorate, to identify research and development requirements relevant to the low level of experience in its subsea and offshore use. The main research areas identified were corrosion data, fatigue and fracture properties, stress corrosion cracking, jointing processes, surface treatment, and design guidance.
