Hydrogen-transfer mechanisms in 1-dodecylpyrene pyrolysis. P.E. Savage. Energy and Fuels, July/August 1995, 9(4), 590--598.

A free radical reaction mechanism is presented for the pyrolysis of 1-dodecylpyrene, a model compound for alkyl aromatics in heavy hydrocarbon residues. Rate constants are estimated for the elementary steps. The predicted effects of time, temperature and initial concentration on the kinetics and product yields are in good agreement with experimental results. It is suggested that radical hydrogen transfer steps are important. 29 refs.
