Commercial applications of new gas technologies are reviewed which are described as important in times of increasing internationalization and growing competition. The four aspects discussed comprise whether existing technology is responding to customer needs; the second considers how research and development work is funded across the entire gas industry; the third examines the challenges faced by the industry in order to retain core customers; and the fourth discusses innovations that have an influence on economic developments.
