A methodology used to assess the need of performance standards for specific risk management systems is described. It guides the user to complete the development, assessment and justification of adequacy for these performance standards. It is applicable to both hardware and software (programs and procedures) risk management systems. It also includes a risk control criticality assessment and includes the ability to grade the relative importance of risk control measures thereby supporting the usage of commensurate risk management resources. 2 refs.
