A review is presented of the state of the art of ultrasonic measurement technology, as well as the perspective of using it in the short run in the gas industry. A comparative analysis is made of ultrasonic flow metering advantages over turbine flow meter and orifice plate, the most commonly used techniques in the gas industry. 8 refs.
