The objective of this study is to provide information of the transfer niche of CNG vehicle and equipment production in Beijing. It is considered that the development of CNG vehicles is a cost-effective strategy for mitigating both local air pollution and GHG. The history of CNG development in China is described and an analysis is made of the advantages and barriers of promoting CNG vehicles in Beijing. 8 refs.
