In view of the new environmental regulations attention is drawn to the way refiners are feeling forced to adopt stringent approaches to recovering hydrocarbons from waste-water treatment operations. Conventional treatment is outlined and details are given of the Amcec process which integrates several treatment methods in a closed-loop stripping system, a schematic flow diagram of which is illustrated.
