Centrica signs landmark liquid gas deal with Qatar
Centrica has signed a contract with Qatar for about £2bn worth - 2.4m tonnes - of liquefied natural gas (LNG), to be delivered from the emirate over the next three years. Previously LNG has been sold to UK firms on the spot market rather than by pre-agreed contracts. In 2010, Qatar supplied 15% of the residential gas used by Centrica - and the UK as a whole - in the form of LNG.
