The winner of the 2009 Energy Manager of the Year (sponsored by ESTA) award isAndrew Stanton, from Transport for London, pictured (centre), with chairman of the judging panel Martin Fry (right) and TV host Paul Ross (left) receiving his award at the NEMEX event in May. Andrewwas said to have stood out from the other entries for his innovative approach and contagious enthusiasmin an organisation continually in the public eye. The judges also gave a special commendation to Derek Johnson of Sibelco UK. The Renewables Innovation Award (sponsored by British Gas Business) went to the Co-operative Group & Water Power Enterprises for a unique collaboration of two organisations in developing a micro-hydro project in New Mills, Derbyshire, and exporting its electrical output to the local Co-operative store. The Renewable Energy Project of the Year Award (sponsored by Semplice Energy) went to Energos,which began operation of theUK’s first gasification plant to operate on waste in 2008. The Energy Product/Service Award (sponsored by the Energy Institute) went to Bright Ideas Global for a device to cut the cost of using computers.
