Dash for Poland’s gas could end Russian stranglehold

Several American oil companies are interested in drilling for shale gas in Poland using new hydraulic fracturing technology. Wood Mackenzie estimate that there could be 48 trillion cubic feet (1,36 trillion cubic metres) of unconventional gas stretching across northern and central Poland. Previously Poland has been heavily dependent on Russian gas imports.
