UPDATED 1 Sept: The EI library in London is temporarily closed to the public, as a precautionary measure in light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation. From 1 September, the library will be staffed Tuesday-Thursday, meaning some services including loans of hard copy materials can resume. Areva plans new reactors that make nuclear waste disappear

The French nuclear energy company Areva is developing a new type of nuclear reactor that could permanently 'destroy' nuclear waste. The technology involved burn ups highly radioactive uranium isotopes named actinides that are the waste products of nuclear fission.
