Offshore winds will light up 1m homes

Plans have been announced for 18 offshore wind farms around the coast of the UK near Redcar in the North East, Skegness and Cromer in the East, Clacton-on-Sea and Sheerness on the Thames Estuary, Porthcawl in South Wales, Blackpool, Southport, Liverpool, Rhyl and Whitehaven. They will be 1 to 6 miles offshore and will light 1 million homes. Welcomed by environmentalists, they are criticised by others as eyesores.
