Virtual IP Week 2021 attracts big name speakers

BP Chief Executive Bernard Looney FREng FEI and incoming Equinor Chief Executive Anders Opedal are among the first big name speakers to be confirmed for IP Week 2021, at which the Energy Institute (EI) will bring oil and gas industry leaders and influencers together virtually for the first time.

‘From crisis to low carbon opportunity’ is the theme for a conference set against the backdrop of the very toughest of operating environments. It will be a critical moment for the sector to discuss its role in meeting three historic challenges over the coming decade: building a resilient recovery from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic; striving to achieve the UN goal of universal access to energy; and charting an ambitious course – at COP26 and beyond – for tackling the threat we all face from the climate emergency.

The ingenuity of the sector’s people, its engineering capabilities and innovative spirit will all be pivotal in rising to these global challenges. The urgency of action, together with the associated risks and opportunities in geographies around the world, will be at the heart of IP Week 2021.

The event will bring together figures from within the sector and elsewhere in the energy and climate change landscape. Industry speakers already confirmed come from Aramco, BP, Equinor, Shell, Total and Vitol, alongside voices from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Chatham House, Pink Petro, IEA and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). More will be confirmed over the coming weeks.

Held virtually for the first time in IP Week’s history, delegates at the 2021 conference will move seamlessly from listening to speeches and presentations in the main plenary to networking with industry professionals, while keeping up to date with the latest energy and oil and gas innovations through the Energy Institute knowledge hub.

IP Week 2021 takes place online between 23-25 February. Full programme and booking details are at: www.ipweek.co.uk
