EI Energy Management Leader of the Year 2020
Bricks that now use 65% less energy to manufacture than in the 1970s are what clinched this year’s Energy Management Leader of the Year Award for Michael McGowen, Ibstock’s Group Sustainability Manager, at an award ceremony in London last month.
The EI-sponsored award is part of edie’s Sustainability Leader Awards which recognise excellence across the spectrum of green business.
McGowen has been instrumental in improving energy efficiency through the development and launch of a Sustainability Roadmap to 2025.
Lead judge Prof Martin Fry CEng FEI commented: ‘Michael stood out because of his vision for the need and, more importantly, his ability to communicate and engage with the issues and people concerned. He initiated a broad scope of actions across the company on energy management, which the judges believe make him an ideal winner for the category.’
