In UK, Rolls-Royce is assisting the reduction of emissions by encouraging the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs). Currently these account for only 0.02% of all aviation fuel (with 4% recommended) and are 2.5 - 5 times more expensive. In addition to biofuels, power to liquid (PtL) fuels made by combining hydrogen and atmospheric CO2 are promising.
