MAN Energy Solutions installs three dual-fuel power plants in Indonesia

MAN Energy Solutions has commissioned three power plants in the remote east of Indonesia. Two plants each with three dual fuel engines provide the cities of Bima and Sumbawa with 50 MW of electric power each for the grid of the province of West Nusa Tenggara.

The third power plant in Maumere on the island of Flores is powered by four engines with a total capacity of 40 MW.

MAN will also operate and maintain the power plants for five years. The company says the three plants and the service hub established for the project in Surabaya will employ more than 130 members of staff by the end of 2019, 90% of whom will be from the area.

‘Reliably supplying over 1,000 inhabited islands is a huge challenge,’ says Götz Kassing, Managing Director Indonesia at MAN Energy Solutions. ‘The dual-fuel engines used offer complete fuel flexibility… and can be operated with low-emission LNG at any time.’
