A Osborne, Startup sees fuel cell future for regional aviation, Aviation Week & Space Technology, 19 August-1 September 2019, p 18
In US - UK, ZeroAvia is developing a Piper Malibu Mirage modified with the piston engine replaced by a pair of 130 kW electric motors powered first by batteries, and then fuel-cells supplied with pressurised hydrogen gas. A fuel cell pack generating 150 kW weighs 50 kg, whereas a comparable battery could weigh hundreds of kg. Furthermore, the lifetime of up to 20 000 hours of a fuel cell starts far exceeds that of batteries.
