New freefall lifeboat uses electric propulsion, Energy World, June 2019, p 22
In the Netherlands, Verhoef has produced a freefall 32 passenger lifeboat using electric propulsion for emergency use with oilfield platforms. Propulsion by a 50 kW inboard electric motor permits 30 minutes at full speed followed by 10 hours at half speed. It is estimated that operating costs will be reduced by about 90-95%.
