Marine fuel of the future? Petroleum Review, May 2019, p 36

In India, a recent seminar highlights the potential of methanol as a marine fuel. As an existing industrial feedstock, methanol offers a number of handling advantages over LNG, and can be produced from renewable sources and also CO2 itself. Low flash-point fuels (11°C cf 68°C for gas oil) have now become officially acceptable.
