Perspective: A question of proof

I believe we must stop using proved oil reserves and R/P ratios when discussing future oil supply. This is for three reasons – proved oil reserves data are very poor, their evolution is misleading, and R/P ratios give no information at all about a region’s future rate of oil production. Let’s look at these problems in turn...
