MOL Group launches EV car sharing

MOL Group has unveiled a new car sharing service ‘MOL Limo’, as part of its stated aim to become a pioneer in mobility solutions in Central Eastern Europe. The service will initially comprise a fleet of 300 Volkswagen cars with a third being electric vehicles (EVs). The idea is to provide a flexible solution for users who will be able to leave their car at the destination of their choice. MOL’s long-term goal is to extend the network, which will initially be launched in Budapest, while moving to a 100% EV fleet in the future as the infrastructure in Hungary and the CEE region is rolled out.

According to Peter Ratatics, COO, Consumer Services, MOL Group, the company recognises that changes in consumer patterns such as the decreasing importance of car ownership along with increasing environmental consciousness are expected to result in increasing demand for car sharing services, which can significantly improve air quality and traffic congestion in big cities.
