PTT plans second LNG terminal in Thailand

Thailand's state-owned oil and gas company PTT has confirmed plans to develop a second LNG import terminal in the Rayong province of Thailand. The project would add a regasification capacity of 7.5mn t/y (10.1bn cm/y) and could be operational as of 2023. PTT, which operates the sole LNG terminal in Thailand, the 5mn t/y Map Ta Phut terminal, is currently doubling its capacity to 10mn t/y (expected in 2017) and will add a third phase of 1.5mn t/y in 2019. The expansion of Map Ta Phut and the construction of the Rayong LNG terminal would nearly quadruple Thailand’s regasification capacity, from the current level of 5mn t/y to 19mn t/y in 2023.
