Petroleum Review March 2017
This month’s issue of Petroleum Review considers some of the challenges and opportunities facing the downstream sector, suggesting that new business models will play a critical role in a changing market.
We also look at why the road to recovery may be a tough one for the marine seismic industry. On a more upbeat note, we highlight some recent technological innovations that aim to minimse the impact that seismic surveys can have on the surrounding marine environment.
Our geopolitical feature focuses on the ways in which US President Trump may use economic sanctions against certain oil producing nations in the future.
The magazine also addresses the need to balance the benefits of carbon capture and storage (CCS) against the associated costs, suggesting that combining bioenergy with such technology could offer a practical, scalable and economic means of cutting greenhouse gas emissions while producing useful by-products.
Meanwhile, our regional feature focuses on the Middle East, including a look at how Kuwait’s new legislature is stalling ambitious energy sector development plans.
This month also sees the publication of our first ever IP Week supplement. Entitled Shaping the industry’s future it provides an overview of the key issues facing today’s oil and gas sector, and looks at how the industry should adapt in order to remain competitive in a challenging oil price environment.
