Generator refurb at Hungary’s nuclear power station

Decorative image New

Hungary’s only nuclear power station has had its fifth generator modernised. The refurbishment will help extend the life of the 2 GW Paks nuclear power plant, which is located around 100 km from Budapest.

The refurbishment was carried out as part of service provider GE’s agreement to maintain the plant’s eight 250 MW generators (pictured) – working on one per year through to 2021. GE started to refurbish the generators, which were commissioned between 1982 and 1987, in 2013.
