Petroleum Review October 2016

This month’s issue of Petroleum Review begins with a look at risk management issues. The fall in oil and gas prices has led to a new wave of margin-killing exposures for many sectors of the oil and gas industry, and our first article shows how commodity management could help the petrochemical sector tackle this problem. We also look at the growing popularity of dynamic barrier management (DBM), a new paradigm of risk management with applications across industries. 

Meanwhile, decommissioning is rising up many operators’ agendas and we examine some recent North Sea projects, including the impressive single lift capabilities of the Pioneering Spirit it made its debut in August 2016. Decommissioning costs in a low price environment are also discussed and we see how one contractor is using lessons learnt from previous projects in order to complete jobs safely, on time and on budget.
