Described as the UK’s largest solar park with a private wire connection for commercial use, the 50 MW scheme to generate solar power for users on the Deeside Industrial Estate in North Wales, is up and running.

Shotwick Solar Park will provide UPM Shotton’s paper mill with renewable energy for the next 25 years through a power purchasing agreement and can, says the company, supply all of the plant demand during daylight hours.

The solar park, which is supported through the Renewables Obligation, has over 250,000 individual Jetion PV panels.
