Hafod Renewable Energy has installed a 48 kW ÖkoFEN wood pellet boiler to serve the premises of Tyrnog Liveries at Llandyrnog in North Wales.

The boiler is housed in a central plant room and connected to a district heating system that serves the house and office. It also feeds a domestic hot water cylinder and radiators for the tack room. Overall efficiency of the system is now 92%, compared to the previous oil-fired boiler system efficiency of just 65%.

Better still, as well as a controllable and low carbon heating system, the cost savings have been striking. In the first year, heating bills dropped from £4,500 to £2,500 and the Livery owners have received Renewable Heat Incentive payments totallin£4,900.
