New UK Prime Minister closes DECC
The new UK Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed Greg Clark as head of a new Ministry for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The new minstry’s remit will include the responsibilities of the previous Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). A number of industry commentators have suggested that getting rid of a department dedicated to formulating energy policy may send the message to investors that energy is not a priority for the new government. Others have suggested that the wider remit of the new ministry may provide it with more clout and funding.
